This post was supposed to be done in August.
But I’m kinda glad I waited until now to get it done – it reminds me of warmer days.

When we celebrated our daughters 3rd Birthday, it was all pink and princess-y. That’s kind of our thing around here with 3 girls and all. If you missed her castle we made for her that day, check it out here.
But I couldn’t just stop at that space hogging castle – I had to make her look like she belonged in it.
Since the castle used up the birthday budget, I dug through my “re-purpose someday” stash and found an old prom dress.
I know it’s a little scandalous. Don’t worry – I wore a bolero over it. My mother wouldn’t have let me out of the house in just that! I’ve always loved the pink, embroidered rose fabric in this dress and I’m glad I found a chance to see it worn again.
I even managed to salvage the zipper as I carefully planned my pattern to do so. I still avoid sewing in new zippers if I can.
I found an excellent pattern and instructions for the cone hat here. Too cute.
I took this little princess to the closest Temple (read more about our Temples here) to get “the perfect shot” I had in my head.
I didn’t get the shot I wanted.
It became too windy for the 3 year old’s comfort. That and I was still short on enough fancy Camera know-hows. But I still got some pretty good ones.
Only possible because my model was really adorable. Everyone that passed thought so too and had to tell her.
She really started to cry though when I told her she had to wait until she was older to go inside – maybe when she was ready to marry her handsome prince.
So she said she would wait.
But the wind changed her mind quickly.
Doesn’t that picture just make you nervous? DON’T LET GO LITTLE ONE!
The next few pictures I decided to add some text. I think they need to be printed and hung in her room.
The above picture was close to “the shot” I was hoping to get. Though, I wish I wouldn’t have had the temple so blurry and included the whole building with her whole body. I’ll have to try again when it warms up this spring.
A couple of pictures reminded me of scripture verses, so I had to include them.
Sometimes this little girl gets so tired of me trying to stage a photo opportunity and snap pictures in her face all the time.
If she wasn’t so adorable she wouldn’t have a problem.
I can brag about my kids being cute, right? It is my blog after all.
Any of you have any secrets to getting your kids to cooperate long enough for you to get the shot you want? It certainly can be a challenge.

 2. Hi! I just found your blog via pinterest and came across this post while looking at your photography section.

Just one thing I would like to share. Your "scripture" pictures are very misleading. As a Christian, I think it's very wrong to have an actual verse, followed by some other quote, claiming to be scripture. Alma, which is not in the bible, is not scripture. I am

 3. I have a couple old prom dresses that I hemmed up short…and then didn't get back to finishing the make over…I really need to. Great job with her princess dress.
