Patriotic Pillow and FREE Printables

I can remember, like it was yesterday.

I was a little brown eyed 10 year old beauty, with red and blue ribbons in my hair, sitting next to my father during the 4th of July fireworks show – with the National Anthem blaring almost as loud as the fireworks – and my father, with tears streaming down his cheeks.

He loved his country to the core.

Patriotism filled his heart and bookshelves.

His devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness has always been an inspiration to me.

It is definitely something I would like to pass on to my children as well.  And what better way than to fill my home with gentle reminders of my own patriotism.

I made up this super simple patriotic pillow to set on our porch swing.

And then I just couldn’t stop playing, so I made up this sweet little patriotic vintage garden flag to go with it.

I’m sharing a full step-by-step tutorial for the flag over at Ella Claire blog.

This tutorial includes how to take the saying seen in the pillow and garden flag, and use a household cleaner to transfer the image directly on to fabric for a lovely faded time worn feel.

But stay right where you are on this post to get the FREE printables to create your patriotic flag or pillow.

If you need a little help making a envelope closure type pillow cover for this project, I have a great tutorial to show you how to sew a cover for any size of pillow form, HERE.

I would also like to add, if you are looking for a great pillow form, you should check out this site called “pillowcubes.com“.  They were generous enough to send me one of their pillow forms to try. I selected a pillow form which is 25% Down and 75% Feather.  In my opinion, that is the best of both worlds.  It holds it’s shape with the feather, and adds a cozy factor with the down.

Now let’s take a look at the printables.

You need a reversed image to make the transfer onto fabric, but you could also select the non reversed images for other projects such as framing the images, making cards, etc.  So here are your options to print.

**VERY IMPORTANT NOTES**

  • Don’t try to print these on an ink jet printer if you plan to transfer onto fabric using the method I teach on THIS post.  It won’t work.  You have to print on a toner printer, which if you don’t have one in your home try the local library, a copy shop, or a school.  They generally have these printers available.
  • These images are designed to be printed on a US standard size of 8.5 x 11 inches, and in landscape format.
  • Click the link below each image, and a PDF of the image will appear, which you can then click print, or right click and select print or save to your computer.
  • These images are for personal use only and not to be sold, distributed, or used for financial gain in your own products.  Thank you.
