Along with a few other details, centered on the window frame.

And perhaps I’ll throw in the details of this DIY Pillow, and yummy, fluffy, texture-y, throw blanket—from Carmel Decor.

This dresser/desk (we call it a “dresk”) is an old, hand-me-down, somebody-save-me piece of furniture that we were so happy to receive.

And the $5.00 curtain rod we DIY’ed and painted from a piece of electrical conduit from Home Depot. And the clearance fabric I found at Joanne’s made 4 curtain panels for $30.00.

But, I think I’ll mostly talk about how much improved our master bedroom is from the BEFORE IMAGE.

And how I feel like a sleeping princess each time I wake up (except with 4 kids jumping all over me).

I just hope you’ll check out the rest of the room – there is so much more to talk about 😉

For now, let’s talk a bit more about the roller shades fabric. I had the great honor to be sponsored by Blindsgalore.com for this product, and I am thrilled to introduce you to this specific line of textured jute-like roller shades.

They had me hooked the moment I saw them on their site. It is the convenience and affordability of roller shades—and the textured beauty of jute blinds—all in one. They come from the specific line called “Kellie Clements Simply Chic Roller Shades: Textured“.

They come in many colors and textures, meant to look like the natural fibers it’s inspired from. I choose the “Jute Filigree” variety, which pairs beautifully with the surrounding whites and blues. If you are on the market for blinds, shades, drapery, or shutters—I highly recommend checking out blindsgalore.com.

They have plenty of selections to choose from, fit for your needs. Whether you want blackout roller shades, roman shades, custom drapery, wood blinds, or vinyl shutters, they have everything for your window needs!

From all my research ordering online for blinds, this site was the most user-friendly—hands down. There are so many options, it really can be an overwhelming task to choose the right window blinds for you.

These shades are even prettier in person and I am delighted with the color styles and look that these light filtering window shades offer.

This “dresk” is from a neighbor and gracefully saved by my husband.

It looked like this to start with. (Picture courtesy goes to my husband, who left the clutter in the background and the one-year-old hand ready to beat the furniture).

I wanted it to take up a little less visual space, and have the added benefit of being able to sit at it and do some reading—and not to mention a few layers of 100-year-old paint jobs. After some handy reconstruction and some horrid paint-eating chemicals, he had it ready for me to re-paint to my liking.

I left the top, a lovely antique wood color as it is, and used Rust-oleum Chalk paint (linen color) for the body.

Now she is a real functional beauty and only needs a few things on top to take center stage in the bedroom.

Like a plant from the grocery store—on top of some boxwood from the garden—on top of an old box from grandpa’s junkyard.

And of course – THE LAMP.

Throw it in a .75 cent thrift store basket – and you’ve got yourself some high style! To make the pillow cover, I discovered this cotton image, HERE, on Pinterest. I used my favorite ink transfer technique I shared HERE.

And used the steps HERE to make a pillow cover. I used a bleached drop cloth, which I give detailed instructions for HERE.

Just look at how gorgeous these all turned out! We enjoyed crafting this and seeing the full picture come alive in front of our eyes. I hope this inspired you and gave you plenty of bedroom decor ideas.

I think that about covers the details I wanted to discuss in this post.

Thanks for visiting!

As always – I would love your thoughts and opinions! They are so valuable to me. What do you think of the faux jute blinds?

Is the lamp too heavy for the space – or do you think it rocks?!! What would you have done to save the dresser? Questions for me? Ask!

  1. Hi! I really love what you and hubs did with bedroom. While the blinds intrigued me most want to learn how to make the curtain rods from conduit please? And how you hung them.

  2. In case anyone is wondering about which drop cloths she used, (since it wasn’t listed, and she doesn’t respond to comments), the BEST drop cloth i have used is by Chicago Canvas and Supply. You can get them on Amazon. 100% cotton. The 9×12 is one HUGE piece with no seams. Wash before use, because it will shrink. Bit.

  3. I am confused as to why the blogger does not reply to any of the questions in the comments.
I am looking for blinds and find her space very inspirational but would like to hear her responses to some of the concerns from her readers.

    1. Yes, I also wonder why she wouldn’t respond to any, but not one of the comments? Some lady down below even posted a link to her page and no one removed that.
I’m glad I read the comments and saw how old this post was. Because Pinterest is pushing it like it’s from yesterday. Goes to show that designs do have a 5 to 7 year turn around. ☺️

  4. FYI I ordered these shades and they are not textured. They are printed on vinyl, and there is no texture at all. The pattern repeats every 4 or 6 inches, so if she were to pull the shades all the way down in the blog you’d see it repeating way too much. It’s also light filtering, but are essentially blackout, which isn’t what we wanted at all. No light gets through, but light will get “around” them on the sides. The company will only let you exchange (not return) up to 4 items per household after you show proof of donation (can’t ship back b/c of COVID policies), but can’t exceed the price of the original item with the exchange. Be cautious, order all sorts of samples, and understand the “guarantee” before you buy.

  5. Love this look. Talk to me more about the curtain rod made from electrical conduit. Specifically how you connected them at the places where your have angles. I have a similar wall in our master bedroom that has 5 windows and each window is on a different angle to make a semi-circle on that wall. We have blind but I can’t figure out how to put up a curtain rod. Thanks!

  6. I have a bow window and was looking for curtain rods and can’t find any that have corners can you tell me exactly how you made yours? Did you buy rods and get elbows?

  7. does anyone know if the regular valance was used or the one you have to order additionally? It is hard to tell from the photo.

  11. Good morning Cami,
Can you please tell me what color blinds you chose? I ordered samples and can’t really tell which one you used. Also I don’t see any responses to the questions posted. Are your replys not displayed for a reason?
    Thank you!

    1. Since she doesn’t reply to comments, I thought I’d point out that above she writes ” I choose the “Jute Filigree” variety”. So the color is Filigree.

  12. Good morning Cami,
Can you please tell me what color blinds you chose? I ordered samples and can’t really tell which one you used. Thank you!

  13. Hi Cami! Did you choose a valence for these blinds or simply stay with just the roller shade. I can’t tell from your pictures, but they are truly beautif. Love your room!!

  14. I just wanted to warn people about this product as to my recent experience. The shades are pretty, but I’ve had a horrible time with customer service. Be careful choosing your mounting options. We did inside mount based on the websites directions. Their “inside” mount is actually top mounted and they stated we should have choose “side” mount which was not an option given when going through the process. Now we can’t hang the shades they sent and they want us to send them back at our expense to exchange them. Given that their instructions are lacking I feel this is unfair and will not be ordering anymore window coverings from them in the future because of this experience. If you are going to order them do yourself a favor and call your order in because the website does not provide enough details.

  15. The post is really awesome and entertaining. It kept my eyes glued to it. It has become my favorite pastime reading to your posts. Thanks for the information you have provided in your blog as it proved to be very helpful for me in start writing my own blogs you have provided in this blog as it proved to be very helpful to me..

  16. So glad I saw your recommendation for blindsgalore! We are doing a major farm house remodel and I’ve been looking for something perfect for my kitchen windows. Exactly what I needed – just ordered them. Thank you!1

    1. Hi, I also love the color of these blinds, but I must warn you. I had something similar years ago above my kitchen sink ended up swopping it out as they are hard to clean. The pull cord was string which was also skanky.

  17. Cami,
Did you do the blackout option in shades or just light filtering? We only have one window in our master and other bedrooms but I’m wondering how bright the light filtering shades remain in sunlight.

  18. What is the color of the roller shades? They look so incredible, I want to make sure I get the right one:)

  19. Just saw this on Pinterest. My name is Cami too. ☺️
Love this room! The light is fantastic! What are the faux jute blinds made of? Hmmmm… Beautiful job!

  20. Just found your blog via Pinterest and love your style! You have a gorgeous bedroom and should be proud. Bravo!

  21. Did you choose the light filtering or the black out blinds? Love, love, love the look of these blinds. Your room is beautiful!

  22. I used to be all about color, but I’m really starting to feel the coolness and crispness of white on white. It’s really grown on me this past year. This room is just a little piece of heaven on earth. Beautiful!

  23. I’m in love! Can you come do my room next…. seriously are you for hire?!? I love how you even show your thought processes, such as the before pics and what you hope the afters to look like, so inspiring!

  24. Cami, I read this post about an hour ago, connected to blinds galore, saw they ship samples for free 🙂 and ordered four of them. They just notified me that they have been shipped already! Super service! Thanks for your info.

    1. Love everything about your space. Very soft & bright with natural lighting Add in something to cut softness with a touch of industrial(table lamp). I have added the dresser make over to my list of DIYs and to think i Just gave 2 antique dressers away 🤪
