Fall Entry Way Decor

Slowly, but surely, our home is getting all spruced up for the season. Ā I kept our Fall entry way decor pretty simple – because that is just how I like it.

Fall Entry Way Decor

I decided to once again, let natures elements take center stage.

I found some lovely clippings to hang, while they last. Ā Then I’ll just go grab more if I feel inspired.

Then I threw in a couple of sunflowers on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

And some pine cones, for good measure.

This cute little pale yellow pumpkin was made using my fun white washing technique and I topped it with a driftwood stem.

  1. I’ve made several qulits (over 40) and only 2 have been hand quilted, mostly I tie them. I have machine quilted about 8, I think, but only straight lines with the walking foot. I’ll have to try the stipple sometime. Your quilt turned out great! i LOVE making baby quilts for friends1 When my daughter was expecting our first grandchild, I was trying to find the perfect quilt pattern for the baby and was looking through magazines and she liked a quilt made of REALLY BIG blocks. All the blocks were 9-1/2″ wide by 12, 18, and 24″ long. Those are BIG blocks. I said I’d make it for her but that it was so easy and simple, it looked like a MISTAKE and I wouldn’t make it for the baby. I did make it for her and she loves it. I threw away the magazine because I was never making a “mistake quilt” again…then my son-in-law wanted one, so I replicated it by measuring the pieces and the layout of my daughter’s quilt. (5 fabrics) and made his in camo colors with camouflage backing. (he’s in the military) I tied both of those quilts. Then his dad was using one when visiting, and evidently remarked, What do you have to do to get one of these? So I made his dad and his wife one each last year, but I used black kona cotton in a stained glass window effect and quilted by stitching in the ditch on both sides of the stained glass “lead.” They loved them and now I’m helping my niece make a “mistake” quilt. She is going to tie it. I shouldn’t have thrown away the magazine! LOL However, it is a QUICK AND EASY QUILT to make. None of the seams line up so you don’t have to match. You made it in six long rows and it is a wonderful size for a throw. Here’s a link to a blue jean stained glass window quilt I copied and first used the stained glass window effect and Kona cotton. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/193443746464563012. It would also be a quick quilt for you. I tied the one I made and gave it as a raffle gift at a reunion. Here is a link to a herringbone quilt I made my second grandson. I used 6″ squares of opposite fabrics, sewed all the way around 4 sides of the square and then sliced with an x effect from corner to corner. Startched the heck out of it to keep the bias edges from stretching and put the triangle components together in herringbone pattern. You can also use this method for chevron pattern. If you’d like, I could send measurements and directions for the “mistake” quilt…they turned out nice but I didn’t put them on pinterest yet so I can’t link to it. Just trying to share some ideas for you…. if you do more, you’ll catch the quilting bug and won’t be able to stop! Good luck!

    1. I should have said SECOND GRANDCHILD! We have three grandchildren, but the middle grandchild is the only boy… I found a beautiful quilt on pinterest that I copied for our third grandchild but I was never able to find out who made it originally or if there was a pattern. I finally just made it up. They love it, but that baby is going to have to be four or five years old before she’s able to lug it around, it i almost twin size. Also I tied it instead of machine quilting. (I do not have the benefit of a long-arm machine. Here is a link to that last quilt for baby grandchild #3, our second granddaughter. The link is for my inspiration quilt–I did not make this quilt. It’s so beautiful I just saved it as “beautiful blue quilt” https://www.pinterest.com/pin/193443746468449894/ I have my measurements and directions for how this is made, but it definitely requires measurement! Not that easy or quick.

  4. Love the fall leaves on your window! Did you do anything to preserve them (assuming they are real). Your entry could be mine…my house looks similar to your picture. šŸ™‚ can’t wait to hear the pumpkin story.

    1. Thank you! No, I didn’t do anything to preserve them. Just clipped and hung. The were shriveled after 2 days and then I went outside and clipped more. Ha!
