A stack of diy vintage cutting boards

I love the charm and character of an old wooden cutting board that has been well used. There is something about the weathered appearance of the worn wood that is so beautiful to me.

In my opinion, the little stains, nicks and knife marks found on an old cutting board only add to its appeal. Old wood is magical!

My husband and I have always had a slight obsession with old wood.

He loves to work with wood, building and designing, and I love to use old wood to add vintage charm to our home. It is really a match made in heaven!

Over the years, my husband has collected quite the pile of beautiful aged wood. After eyeing that pile for sometime, we decided that we wanted to be able to do something with it that we would both love.

That is what lead us to idea of making vintage-style cutting boards. After some experimenting, we ended up making 10 vintage cutting boards, each with a different size and unique design. And let me tell you – these are way better than the plastic boards you can get at the store!

Why I Love My Vintage Style Cutting Boards

When you make your own cutting board, you can choose your own options. You decide the shape, the size, the type of wood, whether you want a heavy-duty, extra thick board for durability, or a thinner one for less weight. It’s all up to you!

If you use old wood, like we did, you can also get that loved and used look of a vintage cutting board.

These vintage style cutting boards would make wonderful Christmas, wedding or housewarming gifts. They have all the charm of old cutting boards that have made it through centuries of use and love. And with a little creativity, you could even make an engraved cutting board for an extra special gift.

All credit for these fun cutting board designs must really go to my husband.  He sketched them out on paper for me, using only his imagination for some and inspiration online for others.

They are all absolutely charming.  You’ll be able to print them on standard US 8.5 x 11 paper.  These patterns will make fairly medium size handheld boards.  You could always consider printing them smaller with your printer settings, or having them enlarged at a copy shop.

Or simply use the shapes as a guide to freehand sketch your own pattern to the size of board you want.

I just ask that you remember that these are provided to you free and are for personal use ONLY.

  4. Wow! Thanks for posting these printable shapes – its nice to have a crowd to choose from.. I chose #2. As you can see by the timestamp, time grows short and Christmas is upon us. Backstory: A few years ago, on a trip down south I picked up a few board feet of 100 year old Cherry wood and have been holding (hoarding) on to it till the right purpose revealed itself. What better purpose could there be than a cutting board for my daughter at Christmas time. It will go nicely with an old dough bowl & paddle given a few Christmas’s ago. Thanks again…
