I am alive.
Really, I am.
We have just been thouroughly enjoying summer together.

Soakin’ in lots of sun.

And having a lot of fun.
And trying to catch a breeze in this heat any way we know how.
Mixed in with the fun, has also been a lot of work.
After moving 3 times (so not fun with 3 little kids), we have finally bought and settled into a home.
And I am in Heaven.
This home we have found has a lot of character, and has my mind staying up all night thinking of all the things I want to do with it.
Not a lot of progress has been made, but I thought I might show you a little of what we have done so far – just to prove I am alive, after a couple of months of no blogging.
Here is the living room, as we bought it.
There is a lot of pretty wood trim and dark colors.

Had I been building a cabin in the woods, it might have stayed this way.  But alas, I am not.  And I need a little more light in my life.

That tongue and groove ceiling stole my heart right away, as well as it did my husbands.  He just about killed over when I told him I was going to paint it ALLLLLL!!!!!

In fact, a lot of people thought I was crazy.   Are you thinking the same?  Or do you feel closed in and drab just looking at that as well?

Well, I have gone and done it – and I’m never looking back!!!

I absolutely love it.  The hubs has finally come to grips with it as well (what a good man).  What is it with men and natural stained wood??

Feel better all ready, don’t you?

The look for this new home is envisioned to be a mix of all the styles I love, and have dreamed about for years.

I’m calling my style a {modern farmhouse vintage beachy cottage} look.  Can you do all that in one house?  Well, we shall see.

I personally think it turned out better than I hoped for.  The white tongue and groove is so lovely.

Now the really fun part has begun.  Furnishing and decorating.  I’ll be sure to keep you updated.  In fact, all this might overtake my blog for awhile, as it has my life.

I also needed to paint up my craft room space before I moved everything in.  Here is what it looked like before.

It was a exercise room for the previous owners, so it had padded flooring and poop brown walls.  Yes, that is what the color reminded me of.

It was full of yellowish stained wood.  Which I am not fond of.

So here is what I went and did.
I tore up the padding, and found the concrete floor.  I painted it white with porch and deck paint, and then painted on some stripes.

I stained the wood trim with walnut colored gel stain.  That took care of the yellow tint.  We also painted the walls an ice blue color.  It freshens it up a lot, but I wish I would have gone a little more blue on the walls.  Oh well.

Then I took some sand paper and roughed up my lines.  I did this for the look, but also so I could stop worrying about every scratch or ding.  Now all that will just add “character”.

Now I have a really fun floor for my sewing room.  I can’t wait to set it all up again.

If you haven’t seen my sewing room from my last house, here is all the stuff that needs to find it’s way into this room.  Can’t wait to start sewing again!
