Breakfast Menu Planning Printables and Tips.

Meal planning.  The bane of my existence.

I kid.  I kid.

Kind of 😉

Ya’ll should know by now I’m a DIY’er and decorator at heart, so feeding myself and the always hungry little ones is not on my list of favorite things to do.

But alas, it must be done, so I’ve found a few ways to make it more enjoyable with as little time and planning as possible.

But that takes planning, you know. 😉

Since they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I began taking it a little more seriously about 4 months ago.  I wanted desperately to fuel my family for the day with much more than refined sugar and fortified vitamins.  I was intimidated by the thought of cooking in the morning, since that is not what I prefer to do when I first wake. #grouchymom

But after a few weeks of dedication, trial and error, I nailed down a breakfast menu and planning process that works great for us, and I really hope it will be helpful to you.

I’m providing some beautiful free printables that I make good use of these days, as well as some options for you that may suit your needs better.

ROTATION BREAKFAST PLANNING METHOD

So let me tell you how I work my Breakfast menu in repetitive 2 week rotations to help cut down on food cost, time spent planning and prepping food, and allow me to fuel my family with better foods before they head out the door.

Before I had darling little printables, this is what my breakfast planning process looked like.

Not pretty, but it worked and helped me figure out how to best organize breakfast time with some handy printables.

HOW I USE MY BREAKFAST PLANNING PRINTABLES

I basically have 2 weeks of breakfast ideas that I know my family will eat, are nutritions and quick for me or my husband to make up.  We simply rotate through these 2 weeks over and over again.  If I feel like we are bored of something, I’ll swap it out and try a new menu item.  This way I can keep a handle on the staples I need to keep, avoid buying what might get waisted, and offer a lot more variety to our morning than cold cereal or oatmeal packets.  Bonus:  I only have to plan once!

I thought it might be helpful for you to see some of the things on our Week 1 and Week 2 menus, and the staples I am sure to keep on hand for our breakfast meals.

I’ll run through the staples list before making my grocery shopping list that week, just to make sure I don’t need to stock up.

I also love having this categorized shopping list to write the perishables I need to buy, and any staples that we ran out of.
