Pull out the dishes, break out the china . . . guests are comin’ for Christmas!  At my house, I’m serving up a classic red and green Christmas Tablescape and hoping someone else brings the grub 😉

I didn’t plan on setting a table for Christmas Eve.

I didn’t plan on taking pictures.

I didn’t even plan on sharing another post before Christmas.

But it seems whenever I make a conscious decision to relax and do nothing, the funniest things happen.  Creativity strikes and I simply cannot resist.

So even though I’m fully expecting my big brother’s trying-so-hard-to-be-kind criticism and my mothers comments of “why did you go through all this trouble” and “where are the paper plates”, my family will have no choice but to sit right here, put a cloth napkin on their lap, and enjoy a Christmas Eve tablescape . . . all on me.

All they have to do is bring the food!

That’s all 😉

It all began when my daughter asked me why I hadn’t brought out our traditional Christmas dishes.  As I opened my mouth to explain that “well, darlin, they don’t go with our Colorful Christmas theme“, I decided to heck with that . . . the dishes were comin’ out for Christmas!

This was right after I finished writing my round up post for 25 Classic Christmas Ideas, and I found myself desperate for some red and green.

All I bought to pull this off last minute was a mini evergreen wreath from the grocery store, a few white carnations, and some cranberries.  Everything else was dug from our Christmas stash.

I don’t do tablescapes very often, in fact, this is probably my second one, but I do hope to show you how simple they can be to bring together.

I thrifted the red flatware and red cups a few years ago, and the dishes were re-gifted to me awhile back by my mother, after my sister and I bought them for her.  I love it when she does that 😉

Please enjoy taking a look at our classic red and green Christmas table, let me know if you enjoy dressing a table for guests, but most importantly . . .

This is so fresh and simple, and a real treat to see after looking at so many overdone decorations and styling. Your readers can do a variation of this without the Christmas china if they aren’t fortunate enough to have some regifted by Mom! You just can’t top red green and white for Christmas decor!
Thanks for sharing…now go enjoy your Christmas dinner!
