Fall is in the air now, my friends. Let’s talk about some of the ways to get that fall fresh scents that you love into the air. You can either constantly be baking something, or you can use essential oils.
Essential oils are my go to for fresh scents. They also can have immune supporting benefits, as well as mood lifters. Some essential oils may reduce stress with a calming scent. Is it any wonder that they are so popular?
No time for chit chat my friends . . . we’ve got some important stuff to cover and there are pumpkin goodies to bake. Today I am going to talk about:
- WHY DIFFUSE OILS
- HOW TO USE A DIFFUSER
- HOW MANY DROPS TO DIFFUSE
- MY FAVORITE PLACE TO BUY OILS
- 10 FALL DIFFUSER BLENDS

Ready, set, let’s go!
WHY DIFFUSE ESSENTIAL OILS
Happy news for us – there are some incredible essential oils that bring in all the Fall vibes . . . naturally. The benefits of diffusing these essential oils are many.
- SMELLS SO INCREDIBLY delicious!
- Think cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, orange, ginger, pine, cypress . . . and imagine drinking them in through the senses. It’ll take you right back to grandma’s famous pumpkin pie all while making your home smell yummy. *FUN FACT: The limbic system, which is the emotional part of your brain is strongly linked to scent. Make sense now??
- Mega health benefits!
- As luck would have it, many of the Fall oils also have immune boosting properties, just in time for the start of cold and flu season. I’ve also found many of the oils I use in my Fall blends are uplifting and mood boosting smells. As cooler weather keeps us indoors more, you just may be able to stay positive and fight of discouraging or depressing thoughts. Adversely, many of the synthetic room sprays, air fresheners and candles can infuse your spaces with toxic chemicals which is not exactly a good thing. (Make absolutely sure your oils are 100% Pure.)
- Just Breathe!
- They say the number one way to get oils into your body and environment is to inhale them. That’s exactly where diffusers come in! BONUS: With just a few drops of the oils, you get to benefit the whole family – as compared to topical applications on individuals.
HOW TO USE AN ESSENTIAL OIL DIFFUSER
Not all diffusers are made equal, but they do pretty much the same thing. You can consider color and style preferences, or just shop by price. I buy these super affordable ones on AMAZON for my kids rooms, and keep this gorgeous candle-like Enlighten Diffuser from Rocky Mountain Oils in my kitchen. It flickers and glows like a candle, and is hands down my favorite diffuser of all time. You just need to make sure you are buying an ultrasonic cool mist diffuser, because heating the oils can destroy their helpful properties.
To use a diffuser, you fill it up to the max line with whatever water was recommended in the user manual. Then you add in your drops of essential oil, put the covers back on and turn it on!
I love that the Enlighten Diffuser comes with a remote and various light settings to get the exact ambience I’m going for.
HOW MANY DROPS TO DIFFUSE
Your user manual will guide you to how many drops of oil is best for your diffuser, but as a general guide you can use as little as 1 or up to 10. The more water it holds generally means the more drops you can add.
Because essential oils can be pricey, I take a conservative approach and use as little as possible. My suggestion is that if you are diffusing only one oil, use 2-3 drops. If you are blending oils, 8-10 drops total of the different scents can give you a nice blend.
My favorite way to come up with a blend is to smell all the oils, one at a time, and find which one you like the best. The one that seems to overpower the others to you, use less of that. If you want a scent stronger, use more of that oil. Each blend can be very personal as you like it.
THE BEST PLACE TO PURCHASE ESSENTIAL OILS
I talked a lot about your many options for buying oils in my previous post, 6 Essential Oils I couldn’t live without.
But to my friends and family who usually just want to get their hands on a few oils without a huge price or time commitment, I ALWAYS recommend Rocky Mountain Oils. They have free shipping, and comparative pricing that you can usually only get if you sign up as a consultant or wholesaler of another company. You can rest assured they are 100% pure, due to their thorough testing results you can find on each and every oil you order. Oh, and FREE STUFF! They almost always have an amazing offer going on their site.
While you are shopping, check out the seasonal pre-blended bottles found at Rocky Mountain Oils.

By far and away Peppermint is the winner in our family! It’s the only thing that helps us feel like we can breathe through colds & it helped calm my daughter’s tummy when we was going through an anxiety patch when we switched school districts…that alone makes me thankful for it! I hadn’t heard of this company but if the ills are pure & the price point is lower, it sounds like another win! Thanks for the opportunity! ?
I enjoyed the info on oils just staring to try oils so the post was very helpful thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I’m still learning about oils, but love what I do know and use.
Would love to try more.
I’ve been using essential oils since I was a little girl. I love so many different kinds of EO but my favorites are citrus ones and lavender. I use Lemon a lot when cleaning, grapefruit in my sinks and orange mixed in with baking soda for a deodorizer. But never have I tried frankincense.
I am just starting to get a few oils and loving them. Cant wait to try a blend or two.
I would love the frankincense.
Lemon ? for daily use and its ‘zing’…
I have very few essential oils and am trying them to see if they make my house smell good without giving me a headache like scented candles and other fragrances do. So far I really enjoy lemon and rosemary. I am looking forward to trying some of the ‘recipes’ for oil combinations on your printable. Thank you!
I tried the Peppermint for a headache by a coworker. It worked. Would like to get into the oils but have not taken the time.
I love the oils and ones I love the most are for calming and a bit of anxiety. Would love to try the Frankincense for my granddaughter who has skin issues. Thanks for the advice!!
I love lavendar… my most useful essential oil. Muscle spasm relief, stress relief….
I love lavender and peppermint and the immune boosting ones. But those fall ones sound amazing!
I haven’t tried any EOs, but am intrigued!
Hi, I just tried to use the code “IMMUNE75” for the free bottle of Immune Support, but the RMO website says that code is not valid. Has it already expired or is the code perhaps not correct? Thanks!
I love Lavender, but it’s the only one I have….so I don’t know much about anything else. I so appreciate your sharing the blends. I have wanted to get into oils, but didn’t know where to start. Lavender is where I started because I heard it was good for calming, sleep and headaches. Thank you, I will get started with your choices.
I love lavender and use it for bug bites and calming a sleepy cranky baby.
I am fairly new to essential oils, but I love the peppermint one! I use it in a recipe for a natural cleaning spray:)
I’ve never used essentials oils (beyond a little clove for a toothache), because I don’t even know where to start! Thanks for the great blog post to get me thinking about how to use them,
Thanks for the lead on Rocky Mountain Oils! I was already following you on IG and now am following RMO, plan on placing an order too!!
Thank you for your blends. When Fall starts I love the “spice” smells. Can’t wait to try!
I have a few favorite oils: FRANKINCENSE, MYRRHand HELICHRYSUM. I was in an accident that damaged my face. My friend made me a blend that included these three that healed me in 7 days, with no scarring. I have also used coconut oil and myrrh in my dental routine to encourage healthy gums.
I am new to essential oils. Just been given a diffuser and can’t wait to try some of your suggestions for blending oils. Thank you for all the wonderful information.
I currently love all the citrus oils but looking at your fall scents, I need to get some Spicy oils!! Cardamom, ginger, and such. Would love to win a bottle too!
Would love to enter and try the frankincense, but unfortunately I don’t do the Instagram thing, but it does sound wonderful….. all the best…. Cheryl…..
Lavender is my favorite!
I love lavender, and hope to discover more favorites soon!
I have used the oils for making lotion, but just purchased a diffuser. I’ve been trying to find some nice recipes, so your timing is perfect for me! Can’t wait to try some fall blends. Thank you!
Lemon is my favorite!
I love lavender and lemon!
I love orange and lemon…and lavender too!
I’ve been using essential oils for over 20 y are, long before it became popular! I LOVE lavender!
I love eucalyptus and lemon and peppermint.
Thanks for sharing these great recipes!
I have never heard of RMO but I am definitely excited to check them out. My current favorite is thieves, followed by lavender. Thank you for sharing so much on oils. I am just getting started and it’s a bit overwhelming! ?
I should have wrote in the post, but RMO’s Immune Strength is comparative to Thieves – just a different name. We use it all the time! I am with you, it is a bit overwhelming. I’ve been soaking it in for 2 years and still learn new things! I try to keep it pretty basic around my house.
I love peppermint for heartburn, and lemon. Miss you ?
I just bought my first diffuser hoping to learn more about oils for the fall season!! Would love a head start with some frankincense!!
Hands down the most useful oil is peppermint. I have celiac disease which can leave me with some aweful heart burn that nothing seemed to touch. Until I found peppermint oil. I rub it on my chest where I feel the burn and if it’s really bad I take some peppermint beadlets. The heartburn leaves so fast and the best thing is that it’s natural. I don’t have to take a daily rx for heartburn anymore.
I have never tried any oils. But you make it sound so delightful! I especially like the sound and smell of pumpkin pie! Thanks for teaching me something new! 🙂
Lavender Greece from RMO. In my diffuser tonight!
Mmmm love anything citrus!! Haven’t tried the RMO. But always up for something new and cheaper.
They’re all so magical. I can’t pick one. I guess I’ll say fennel today because it’s the only thing helping my colic newborn. I actually hate the smell but love the benefits of a calm baby.
I would try a few to make a pumpkin pie scent ??
I guess my favorite essential oil is Tea Tree. It was the first one I was introduced to in the late 80s and I was hooked on its miraculous results.
Hey! I am not too familiar with essential oils. I just got my first diffuser and a few oils. Fall is my favorite season. I would love to have some fall oils to fill my house with inviting scents!
I love cinnamon bark!
I only have a few basic oils. But, of my small handful, lemon and lavender are my favorite. I really want to add to my collection! Saving up my pennies. 🙂
Love essential oils, diffuse them daily!!!
Me too Kim! They are such a gift from Heaven!
Absolute favorite would be immune blend. Been using oils for years and love them tremendously. Lemon oil is amazing as well. Never bought nutmeg to try though, my next purchase.
Oh Billie. You gotta try nutmeg. It’s my fav spice scent, next to cinnamon.
I love lemon oils. I haven’t tried RMOs. But the pumpkin one would be the first one I would want to use.
Love lemon too! The pumpkin blend is my fav!
I’ve never tried oils but have be been wanting to! I am particularly excited to try Immune Strength and Lemon. My kids missed soooo much school last year during cold and flu season. I also adore fall and all of those blends sound amazing. Thanks!
I hope you give them a try. As a mom, you’ll do just about anything to keep sickness away! I do a spoonful of elderberry syrup once school starts too. Anything!
Hard to pick one… lavender, mint, eucalyptus
My main go too’s
Yes, yes and yes! Gotta have those!
Yes, I love oils…I’ve been using another company’s but the whole have to subscribe thing so someone else benifts from my purchases, is starting to get on my nerves. I’ve heard about RMO…the company I buy from would have us believe they are the only ones that are pure. Need to check RMO out. I adore Vetiver. Love how it smells!
I agree with you so much! I’ve been using oils from MLM companies for a long time, but never felt good to share it because it bugged me too. Truth is, there are many companies that have pure oils, and way more affordable. I was thrilled to find RMO and finally felt like I could talk about it without feeling like a down your throat salesperson! Love them!
Call me a hippie but my all time favorite oil is patchouli! I also like orange oils a lot. I use oils every day and find them a very healthy benefit to my life
I love hippies 😉 . I actually have never tried or smelled patchouli! Next up on my list!
Oh you will love it! My husband is a hippie from way back! I am just a wanna be 😉
Oh, I can’t wait to try some new blends, I love EO’s. I just started buying Rocky Mountain oils and love them. LOVE that I don’t need to be a member and the quality is amazing.
I have so many favorites! Eucalyptus stays in the bathroom shower along with peppermint for a morning pick-me-up. 🙂
Yes, not having to be a “member” or make huge kit purchases to get a few oils is a major plus of RMO! I go through a lot of eucalyptus and peppermint too!
Can these blends be used in body products? I typically use 1 oz of essential oils in my body products. How would I go about mixing the oils to make 1 oz?
Love lemon oil, so fresh!
Lemon is the oil I go through more than any other! So good!
