FAQ

If you have any questions for me, feel free to contact me at [email protected]  I will do my best to answer them promptly.

Here are some common questions I get asked.

(This post contains affiliate links to products I use and love).

What kind of camera do you use?

Well, I’ve learned you don’t need to spend a ton of money to drastically improve your pictures.  I used a Canon Rebel XS, DSLR Camera for years on this blog – and 99% of the time I had the 50mm f/1.8 prime lens attached.

First, let me say, this is the bottom of the line for DSLR camera’s, but it served me and my blog photography well for years.  I recently (as in half way through 2015) upgraded to a Canon 70D and a Canon EF 35mm f/2 lens.  I have absolutely loved the upgrade and it has made a huge difference in my ability to capture in low light and get better sharpness.  The video on this camera is pretty sweet too.

Photography is really a journey, and I tell myself (or my husband tells me) – learn to use what you have as best as you can.  When that upgrade comes, it will be all the better.

What software do you use to edit your photos?

I’m a big fan of Adobe Lightroom.  Big big fan.  I use nothing else when it comes to editing my images – unless I need to add text.  Then I pull up Adobe Photoshop Elements.  I opt to use simple clean edits just to make my images brighter.  No crazy filters for me.

What color of white paint do you use?

I do use a lot of white paint – and my go to color is Benjamin Moore, super white.  Pure and crisp.

What color of paint is in your living room?

Super White, of course, for the trim.  The lovely soft blue/gray, is Benjamin Moore, Sterling – 1/2 tinted.

How do you keep a “white house” clean with kids?

I get this question a lot.  Truth be told, I have 4 kids and it is rarely sparkling clean.  But I love to be surrounded by light and bright, so I make it work with a few tricks up my sleeves.  Slipcovered sofas and bedding are my favorite.  Even if you choose colored slipcovers, it’s so nice to get them fresh again with a wash.  We also maintain strict rules in our house about no food or shoes in the living room.  My kids surprisingly respect that very well.  When it comes to white walls and cupboards, they do get a scrub down about every 6 months, but I think you should do that no matter the color of your interior.  My personal theory is that you should embrace your style and design preferences no matter the stage of life you are in – so even with 4 young kids, I choose white!

Please feel free to ask me any other questions!
