In an effort to make this temporary (and tiny) home feel more . . . well . . . homey, I played around in Photoshop Elements to create a printable that says,

“Home is where you park it”.

To remind us all that no matter what we find ourselves living in, we can make it feel like home – together.

These are the current questions running through my mind, that you can help me answer.

  • What items can I not go without?
  • How will I keep everyone from fighting?
  • What if the RV smells?  What can I do to make it smell like home?  (In a good way, not a “something died in the toilet” way).
  • To rug, or not to rug?  That is the question?  Won’t it just get filthy?
  • Quick, easy, few ingredient, healthy meals . . . I’m going to need them!
  • Can we do this?  I’m not sure if we can do this!

  1. Found you today!!
Hours spent looking around! So much great info and insight.

Gutting our RV and a lot of “customizations” happening.
Like you, plan to live in FT while building our home.
All your posts re your RV renovations has my mind whirling with ideas!
My question, what to do with that old ugly ceiling? has a fabric-like material on it. Started peeling it off in areas. This does not come off nicely! I continue this way, it will take forever and a day! Ick. Maybe should have left it?
    Alas, Suggestions?
    Thank you.

  2. I love the camper prints. My friend’s home burnt down a week ago and they are going to be living in a camper until their new house is built. About a year so I’m going to print it out and frame for her . Thank You

  3. Can you please tell me how to access the RV Printables? Nothing seems to be working for me.

    Thankyou,
    Sharon.

  4. Isn’t your rv a fifth wheel? Mine is. I was hoping for a fifth wheel print. All the prints are so cute!

  5. From the sneak preview, your home on wheels is not pretty—it’s GORGEOUS!!!!!!!
I’m so jealous cause I really want a RV for travel that I can redo, but my husband says NO! 🙁
I can’t wait to see all of it!!!

  6. Hi Marci, Your printable is really cute. Thank you for your generosity and kindness. In response to your question about rugs: Have you checked out Ruggables? They are easily washable and they have some very nice styles. I considered one for my trailer, but we camp in parks, etc, so it is better to just be able to sweep the dirt out. Since yours will be your home for awhile, a nice little rug would cozy it up, right?
    Cheers

  7. Beautiful RV eye candy – love it all! In re: to the rug question my experience says “yes” to mat inside door or any small rug for appeal. Just make sure you can wash it easily. With our tiny RV it is essential to have a large outdoor mat as you enter the trailer as this will help keep the muck from being dragged in. Costco usually sells a camping mat that hoses down for cleaning, is lightweight, and super easy to sweep. Because you will be living here for a bit I would encourage you to eventually build a decent sized “deck” to transition your entrance (maybe even covered so that you have an outdoor room that increases your living/functioning space). How exciting for you all – be encouraged for this adventure because it will be a golden era of memory-making! I love the “glamping” in beauty! ❤️

  8. Thank you Jennifer! I’m flattered you would think to do that! Always fun to “hop” with you! Hugs!

  9. I can’t wait to share more! I’m hoping things settle soon so I can get the info and more images up soon! Life and all 😉 . Thank you so much!

  10. Beautiful sneaky peaks Cami! I grew up camping with my family of 7 in a camper and tents. Sometimes for an entire summer. We all had the best times of our lives. Mom and Dad assigned different “duties” to each one of us both inside and outside on the grounds. We also were assigned a sibling to help. We had quiet time for an hour each day (probably for Mom’s nerves!) and she determined when that would be. We spent as much time outside as the weather would allow so as not to get cramped and cranky. And Mom and Dad made all the meals on the bbq or in the crockpot, always with a fresh salad and fruit. Grow open the Windows and door everyday, even if it’s cold to air out the camper. It will keep it fresh and everyone healthy. ☺

    1. Tracey dear, I am making so many mental notes! Thank you so very very much for leaving your thoughts and experience with me. So helpful! We’ve had really rainy gloomy weather and I think that is contributing to the struggle of getting adjusted. I’m so grateful to be parked at my moms right now to be near help and relief while we figure this out. Now I gotta go write a cute little checklist for my kids “duties”. Thank you, thank you!

  11. during d difficult financial season of life, my husband and I chose to live in an RV with our five children, as a means of saving money to buy a home. We succeeded in that and today have a really nice home. My children have fond memories of the four years we lived in the RV. We learned that complaining doesn’t help any situation, we all learned better picking up and cleaning habits, and grew closer as a family in so many ways.
With God’s help, we did it! And you can, too!

    1. I am unbelievably strengthened today by your comment. It was a really rough morning as things in the RV kept breaking down and not working right. It feels we have to work through something new each day, and I’ve felt pretty discouraged. To hear how you made it through 4 years! and learned such valuable lessons has made me excited again. I finally called some pros to come help with the internal functioning and feel hope that we can do this again. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to leave me this comment. God bless you!

  12. Y’all have done an Amazing job – created a lovely home , which you are amazing at doing . Start each day with God as a family . Yes , you can do it !!!

    1. Your compliments meant so much but I absolutely needed to hear “start each day with God as a family”. We finish each day with God as a family, but mornings get so chaotic I forget many times to do just that. I know that will help us endure it well when we start the day with God together. Thank you so very very much!

  13. Love the camper. What a beautiful transformation. Adore the “home is where you park it ” printable. Will gift to a friend. Thank you!

    1. Thank you so very much! I am giddy that you like it so much to gift it. That brings me immense joy to help pass that along.
