From Drab to Fab: Building Garage Curb Appeal

It was time to add some garage curb appeal to our new pole barn home. In this process post, we’ve added our steel siding, steel roofing, painted our garage doors with exterior paint, added light fixtures, and more.

I am learning that even the mere thought of curb appeal on a new home build can be extremely overwhelming. We are pretty much staring at piles of dirt here. But we are taking it one baby step at a time, starting with the front of our garage exterior.

GARAGE EXTERIOR BEFORE

While things slowly progressed on our house this garage front sat unfinished for way too long, due to the rest of our delivery being greatly delayed, and contractors not showing up when they say they will.

But from my chats with other home builders, this tends to be a common problem. My husband eventually hired some buddies to help him get it done himself. We also added some trim around the garage door stalls and prepped for the concrete driveway.

GARAGE DOORS

We opted to try out a very basic flush panel garage door style. No windows, no custom carriage house details, just very very basic.

We’ve had a great experience with Behr Exterior paints in the past, so I didn’t hesitate to use it again.

GARAGE DOOR COLOR

I was delighted to see the color “LIGHT DRIZZLE”, which is lovely shade of soft blue/gray. Around my parts, we call this color tone, “TIDBITS blue”.
