Using clippings from nature and a few grocery store flowers, let me show you how easy it is to layer a beautiful Fall Floral Arrangement.
For those of you wondering, yes, we are still trying to sell our home. We have had an uptick in showings and I thought it might be beneficial to add in just a few touches of Fall to cozy up the home for staging purposes.
That and my soul really needed some creativity.
On a whim I grabbed a couple of bundles of fall foliage at the grocery store when I noticed they were discounted half off. The bundles were full of bold oranges and yellows, colors I don’t normally gravitate too but felt a desire to try something new.
While I was at the home putting it together, I decided to take some pics along the way to show you how I prefer to layer arrangements. Everyone has their own approach to doing this and I feel like going with the gut is really key.
HOW TO LAYER A FLORAL ARRANGEMENT
I wanted to start with one of my ivory planters that I used this Summer for my herbs. I was going for a very full arrangement, in this case, since it would be the single item on a very large table.
Then I separated the grocery store bundles into types of florals. It had some good draping greenery like seeded eucalyptus, a variety of carnations, mums and sunflowers.
I knew I would want a little more fill so I clipped some wheat grass from outside my house.
Being a planter pot, it had drainage holes inside, which would not work to fill it with water. I stacked some jars inside and filled them with water instead. This also gave me a good base for holding the stems in place.
I chose to start with the thickest stems, which was the sunflowers. After snipping the ends off to the length I desired, I criss crossed them inside the jars, which helped them stay right where I wanted them.
Next up I snipped and added in the carnations and mums.
Then I used what greenery I had to fill in and droop down the sides.
At this point I felt like I needed more fill so I headed outside again and took some clippings from bushes.
I could have easily stopped at this point, with a very beautiful Fall arrangement.
But I had some browns I wanted to add in for neutrality and height.
There you have it! A Fall floral arrangement full of color and impact for less than $10.00!
Now surely no one can resist to buy my house with this beauty in it (wink, wink).
While I enjoy a bold statement, I also love a more subtle arrangement, completely free from what you can find outside, like this.
Or like seen in my Fall Leaves Home Tour.
Even go super simple with some Sunflower clippings from outside.
Fall is so full of beauty everywhere we look!
