Pink and Orange take center stage in this Fall Home Tour in my living room. Color aside, read on to discover what little seasonal changes you can make in your home, even when you don’t feel like decorating for it!
Welcome to my second Fall home tour post this year. This time I’m bringing you into my living room and joining a MASSIVE group of bloggers who are opening up their homes, with our generous sponsor, Kirklands. Make it a treasure hunt, and find out what we all picked out from kirklands.com.
Today’s loop will lead you to Christina’s Adventures Fall home tour, but be sure to check back every day this week to see more! Also, there is a $1500.00 Kirkland’s Giveaway at the end of this post, so be sure to enter to win that!
I’ve got to give you fair warning, lest you look at these images and think to yourself, “Golly. Cami must be obsessed with decorating and have every season planned out with exuberant energy.”
Did you think that?
It may be true, most of the time . . . but believe it or not, decorating for this season this time did not come easy to me!
I had found myself in a creative slump, and not quite ready to tackle any changes.
However, thoughts like “but what will my children think of mommy if I don’t do something for Fall?! What if they are traumatized?!” and “Is it really possible to just kind of skip over my favorite season?!”
Alas, I buckled down, came up with a color scheme, and came up with a strategy for simple seasonal decorating . . . for when you don’t really feel like it.
Wanna hear my strategy?
I decided I could start with 4 things, and see what came about after that. The 4 things are . . .
Add something new.
Add something old.
Add something natural.
Add something bold.
It was crazy mind tricks at work here. As soon as I “dumbed” my decorating strategy down, I felt like “Surely. You can do this Cami. You can bring the spirit of Fall into your home, even if you don’t feel like it.”
And what to my wondering eyes, it all came together wonderfully. So here we go, let’s go over how this played out in my home, and see if we can trick your mind into doing the same.
ADD SOMETHING NEW
Normally each season sends me on a re-arrange furniture kick, but this time it didn’t. But I still felt like we needed something new to look at and to prop Fall goodies.
Just so happens, Kirklands sent me on a shopping adventure to find that special something, and this white washed double shelf console table is what I picked.
The hubs saw it and said, “you know I could have made that for you”. And I said, “after I just asked you to make an 18 drawer apothecary table, you really wanted to build me something else.”
Que the thoughtful moment.
Que the “Well no. Not really.”
Sometimes you just need that new furniture smell to get you going, know what I mean?
And sometimes, that something new is just ready and waiting for Fall color florals that will take your breathe away.
In other “new” departments – new throw blankets, pillows or linens is never a bad idea. At least that’s what I tell myself 😉
You already may have seen a rust orange turkish towel in my bathroom, but I couldn’t resist playing around with them out here as well. They make amazing throw blankets and forts . . . or so I am told. These turkish towels are from Olive and Linen, and they are being generous enough to offer you each 30% off anything in their beautiful online store. Just enter the code “camitidbits30“.

Moving on . . .
ADD SOMETHING OLD
Typically, when I don’t feel like decorating, it may also be because I don’t want to spend a lot of money too.
If you find yourself feeling the same, dig through your stuff and find something old and use it in a new way!
An old crock perhaps?
A chippy old vase you spray painted eons ago?
Chippy “old” pumpkins you made last year.
Or a trusted “old” chalkboard that can quickly be dressed for the season.
I’m never to prideful to pull out my “old” stuff. In fact, the kiddos really love it when I do.
Next up –
ADD SOMETHING NATURAL
Natural actually means, coming from nature.
But for me, natural also means, FREEEEEE!
Like wheat clippings from outside.
Or gather some really odd looks from your family when you bring in sunflowers with full intent to watch them shrivel up and die.
But sometimes natural can mean buying “natural looking” things from Hobby Lobby, just because they look pretty cool . . . in a natural sort of way.
But I’m here to tell ya, Autumn time does a pretty fine job at decorating for herself. You just have to bring her into your home.
Lastly,
ADD SOMETHING BOLD
It’s sometimes true, that your small subtle efforts go unnoticed amongst men and children. So just in case, be sure to smack them in the face with something you wouldn’t normally do, and that they simply can’t miss.
A crazy bold orange velvet pillow, perhaps?
If they are too accustomed to light and bright colors, they may not even know when the seasons change unless you do something drastic. 😉
Actually, using orange in my decor at all was a bold move for me. The family definitely noticed it!
Especially when orange got paired up with pink and all our minds were blown!
There you have it friends.
Shake off that decorating resistance, and just think –
Add something new.
Add something old.
Add something natural.
Add something bold.
You got this.
Pound it.
High fives.
Now get comfy!
Loads and loads and LOADS of homes to visit today.
I’m so glad you stopped by mine!

So gorgeous. I just love this kind of living room. You know, decorating our living room not so easy. After reading this whole article I realize that and you guys worked hard to redesign your living room and your applied items are really unique. Especially those natural things are really attractive.
Great and inspiring tour and pictures! This living room looks just stunning – elegant, bright and beautiful. The table and the mirror are just perfect.

Cami, why not pink for fall. I could live with pink year round. I especially love the white~washed console table with the blankets and pillows. Great to be with you on the fall home tour.
Oh my – so pretty, and very inspiring for this very uninspired mama! I LOVE the Turquoise Sweet Olive Salad Plates in Kirklands new collection and I think I’ll put them on my Christmas Wish List for sure! Thanks for motivating me to clean up and decorate for fall … it is my favorite season, but I’ve just been in a funk.

Absolutely perfect as always Cami! Your colors are so stunning…and I love all your tips too!
Love your non-traditional fall decor and your simple take on fall. Sometimes when we try too hard with our decor, it looks over done and cluttered. Very beautiful! What a great table from Kirklands! I love their galvanized pumpkin tray. Thx for sharing.
