I adore this tea. My kids adore this tea (they even call it Fruit Loop tea because the sweet and fruity flavor combination reminds them of Fruit Loops). In fact, I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like this tea after giving it a taste. It’s soothing, mood boosting and has incredible flavor and aroma!
If you’ve got access to some lemon balm, put this recipe on your to-do list. It’s super easy to make and well worth the little time that it takes!

Lemon Balm Tea Recipe Ingredients
The ingredients for this delicious herbal tea are pretty straight forward.
- Water
- Fresh lemon balm leaves
- Honey – I like to use raw honey from local honey bees
If you want to add a little extra something, like a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or some lemon zest to your tea, go ahead. It’s a fool proof recipe that you can customize to your preference!
How to Make Lemon Balm Tea
You can make this mood-boosting tea in a few simple steps.

- Boil water in a kettle or large pot.
- Pack a jar 1/3 full of washed, fresh lemon balm leaves. Be sure to remove them from the stems.
- Fill the jar full of hot boiling water. I like to use a tea kettle to boil my water, but a pot will work just fine. You can make this in single serving jars, or make a pitcher to store the tea in the fridge for whenever you need a drink.
- Give the contents of the jar a good stir, and cover while the infusion takes place. Let the lemon balm infuse into the water for at least 20 minutes (the longer the better!).
- Strain the lemon balm from the warm water.
- While the water is still warm, add the honey and stir to combine. Adding the honey while the water is hot will help the honey will dissolve and incorporate better.
- Serve warm or let chill in the fridge.
- Enjoy!

If you want a really potent tea, try doing a sun and moon infusion. Simply put your covered container of tea to sit out in the sun and through the night. The next day you’ll be able to enjoy an extra fabulous lemon flavor.
Make it Iced Tea
If you want to drink this as an iced tea, simply refrigerate after preparing until chilled. Add some ice cubes and you’re ready to go. Just make sure that you still prep the tea with hot water so that the honey will melt and incorporate into the water.

Can I Make Lemon Balm Tea with Dried Herbs?
You can absolutely use dried lemon balm leaves to make this herbal tea. In fact, if you’ve got a bunch of lemon balm, drying it out for later use is a great idea! Just rinse your lemon balm leaves and blot dry. Then either hang upside down in a bundle to air dry, dry in a dehydrator, or use the oven.

If you want to use the oven to dry lemon balm leaves, spread the clean leaves out in a single layer on a parchment covered baking sheet. Preheat your oven to the lowest setting it will allow and leave the door cracked slightly for air flow. Check on your herbs every 30 minutes until the leaves are brittle. Store in an air tight container.
To make a cup of tea, use 1-2 teaspoons of dried leaves for each cup of water. Prepare as you would with fresh leaves.
