The Top 10 Christmas Movies to Watch on Netflix

UPDATE:  This is a list of Christmas movies available on Netflix online streaming in 2015.  Many of them are no longer available on Netflix, but still worth the watch if you can track them down.  To see my top 15 Christmas movies to watch in 2016, CLICK HERE!  Enjoy!

Here again for my fellow Netflix online streaming fans!

(See my other Netflix reviews HERE and HERE).

This time I am hoping to ring in a little Christmas cheer by sharing my top 10 favorite Christmas movies to watch on Netflix.

The Top 10 Christmas Movies to Watch on Netflix

I hope you know what makes a Christmas movie . . . well . . .  a Christmas movie.  There has to be plenty of cheesy acting and predictable endings, right?  Somehow, despite those 2 factors – I really enjoy watching Christmas movies this time of year.

My mom keeps a nice stash of classic Christmas films at her house, as well as new ones coming in each year.  We love to borrow those and she has some of my favorites.  But I’ve also discovered Netflix does provide some online streaming Christmas movies that are enjoyable to watch.  After sorting through the ones that are a little too cheesy and predictable, I’ve come up with a list of 10 that are perfect for getting in the Christmas spirit.  They are focused on family, serving others, finding joy at Christmas, and of course – love stories.

Disclosure:  The links I’ve provided for each movie will take you to the Amazon listing for the movie, and is an affiliate link.  This is a great place to read other reviews and find out more details on the movie.  However, if you want to watch it with your Netflix online streaming account, simply search the title of the movie on Netflix.  All images found on Amazon.

 1.  Christmas Angel

Any of you who used to watch “Touched by and Angel”  will appreciate this film and recognize the “angel”.  This is a heart warming show about love and trusting God and perfect for the whole family.

2.  The Christmas Card

Sweetest little love story about a soldier who hangs on to an anonymous Christmas card and is determined to find the writer who offered him strength while away.

3.  The Heart of Christmas

This one is a real tear jerk-er.  I think my husband was even trying to hold it in.  Family and friends come together to bring Christmas to a boy in October who has been diagnosed with cancer.  Bring the tissues to this one!

4.  A Holiday Engagement

Lighten things up with another sweet love story that wasn’t supposed to happen – when a women hire’s a fiance for Christmas so her mom will get off her back!

5.  Coming Home for Christmas

Coming home for Christmas is a bit odd when someone else lives there!  A sweet show with lovely Christmas songs and family values.

6.  All I want for Christmas

Her son fills up her dating card and all of a sudden she has too many choices.  True Christmas love prevails!

7.  Dear Santa

Christmas brings out the best in us – whether we want it to or not!  Another story about a child bringing love back into their single parents life.

8.  Silver Bells

A story in great support of the Salvation Army and it’s impact on others.  A sports anchor find purpose in life again after being sentenced to community service with the Salvation Army.

9.  The Gift of the Magi

Derived from the classic O’Henry tale, anyone who has been newlywed and completely broke can appreciate this movie!

10.  An Evergreen Christmas

Another “search into your soul” movie as a women has to choose between a busy city life or home in the country – with plenty of song mixed in.

There you have it!  My top 10 Christmas movies to watch on Netflix.  Now, because I’m nice, I’ll throw in a couple more if you’re looking for some not-so-serious or not-so-soul-searching yuletide joy.  Check out “Christmas Crush“, “A Christmas Kiss“, and “12 Dates of Christmas”.

Now it’s your turn!  I would love to hear some of your favorite Christmas movies!  Whether on Netflix, Amazon, or plain old DVD 😉 – What do you love to curl up to under a blanket with popcorn and hot cocoa this time of year?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

We just watched The Note with Jeannie Francis based on the book by Angela Hunt. It was very good. Maybe something similar to the military card one but I have not seen that. If you come across The Note, I would recommend watching.

I’ve never watched any of those *GASP* and I called myself a Christmas lover, for shame! The Christmas Card movie sounds the cutest to me (maybe I have a soft spot since my hubby’s in the military?). Great post, shared it on Pinterest!

That is shameful! Haha! You should definitely start with The Christmas Card. It’s one of the best!

My absolute favorites are the oldies! I grew up on Miracle on 34th street (with Maureen O’Hara) and White Christmas. Im not sure that they have made a new one that I like quite as much, but Polar Express is now a tradition with our 10 year old. We watch every Christmas Eve. I love the message here that getting older doesn’t mean you stop believing.

I love reading your blog….seeing how you decorate your lovely home, reading about how you love your sweet family and getting recommendations for good movies/series! I especially love this post because I too love to curl up and watch a good Christmas movie!! I have seen all of these, except “Heart of Christmas”. Our son has had cancer twice. The Lord has blessed us tremendously and he is doing wonderful!! But I can’t watch that movie. Anyway, I am writing to suggest another Christmas movie on Netflix that you absolutely have to watch!! It’s called “Christmas With a Capital C” and it is a beautiful, simple, charming story of a small town in Alaska that is fighting to hold on to the real meaning of Christmas in the face of “politically correct” opposition. It is my absolute favorite Christmas movie on Netflix! I’d love to hear what you think of it!!

Thanks for that suggestion! Definitely giving it a try! Your comments were so very sweet and heartfelt. Thank you so much. I would have to agree – watching a movie like that when you have lived through it would be too painful. I lost my father as a pre-teen, and I have not been able to watch “Christmas Shoes” without sobbing and leaving the room. Some movies are a little too close to the heart. Thank you for stopping by and I’m so glad you enjoy what I do.
