  • Beeswax candles have a gentle honey scent, which is absolutely lovely.

Step-by-Step Candle Making Instructions

  1. First, get your hands on some beeswax sheets and candle wicks.
Beeswax sheets, twine and scissors
  1. Decide how tall you would like your candles to be.
  2. Eyeball it or use a ruler to measure the proper length on your wax sheet and cut the sheet using scissors or a knife.
  3. Measure out your wick along one of the side edges (I like to leave about an inch of wick above the top of the candle). Cut your wick to length.
Twine is lined up along a sheet of beeswax
  1. Line the wick up about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch away from the end of the beeswax sheet.
  2. Use your fingers to gently press the wick into the wax sheet to secure it.
  3. Roll the edge of the wax sheet snuggly over the wick.

  2. Gently press the end of the beeswax sheet against the candle to secure it and keep it from unrolling.
  3. You’re done! Pretty easy, right? Now you can use it, gift it or make it a part of your decor. Enjoy!

Beeswax Candle Making Tips

DIY rolled beeswax candles are super easy to make. Here are some of my favorite tips to make it even easier:

  • You can choose to roll your beeswax sheets straight across for a pillar candle, or you can roll them at a slight angle to create a long taper candle.
  • If your beeswax sheets are stiff and difficult to work with, grab a hair dryer and gently soften the sheets with the warm air. This trick works incredibly well!
  • Most candle making kits include wicks. If you didn’t buy a candle making kit, you’ll need to provide your own wick. You can purchase ready-made wicks or simply measure, cut and dip some natural twine into wax and allow it to dry for a quick homemade wick.
  • Wrapping these candles with ribbon and adding a tag, like the one I’ve included for you, make this a perfect gift that is ready to go whenever you need it.

FAQ’s

Are beeswax candles safe to breathe?

Yes! Beeswax is a natural, non-toxic product so you can burn beeswax candles with no worries. They’re also hypoallergenic, which makes them great for people with sensitivities to candles.

How long do beeswax candles burn?

Beeswax has a high burn point, which means that beeswax candles will burn longer than traditional paraffin candles. However, since these candles are full of that beautiful texture, they’ll burn more quickly than a dipped or solid beeswax candle.

Do rolled beeswax candles drip?

Yes, these candles will drip a bit. It’s part of their old-fashioned charm. Grab a cute candle holder to keep everything contained.
