I saw this gingham fabric, and I knew that it needed to be an apron.

And then I saw some lace in my stash, and I knew that it needed to be on a gingham apron.

And then I saw this cute little girl, and I knew that she needed to be wearing a gingham apron with lace.

And then I saw a wooden bowl with apples, and I knew that it would look so good in the hands of a cute girl, wearing a gingham apron with lace.

And when the gingham apron with the lace, and the little girl with a bowl of apples, was all together . . .

I was completely satisfied.

And so was the little girl.

And she played “farm girl” all morning in her little gingham apron.  Gathering eggs from the chickens, milking the cows, sleeping on the hay . . .

And after a small dose of reality (aka – kindergarten), she rushed home to put on her apron with lace and proceeded to tend to the needs of the farm.

She even found the time to pack a little picnic for her sisters so they could all come and enjoy the life of a farm girl.

And when they day was over, she hung up her gingham apron with lace and asked if she could wear it again tomorrow.

All of that, simply because I saw some fabric.

That, my friends, is why I love sewing 😉

Lucky for you, I’ve done all the hard work on this apron and provided a printable PDF pattern complete with pattern pieces and step-by-step instructions.

You can adapt if for a boy or a girl, ages 2-12 – with 6 designs to choose from.

But, I hope you don’t feel limited to those 6 designs – and realize that with just the right amount of lace and the perfect fabric – this apron pattern can take your child anywhere!

It has adjustable straps on the neck and waist, to allow some wiggle room to grow with your child.  The velcro straps make it easy peasy for him/her to strap on and take off completely by themselves.

That means there is no need to ask permission or help, in order to be whoever they want to be in their little apron.

To purchase your apron pattern, head over here to the Make it and Love it Pattern shop, where I sell the pattern.  Also included is an option for the rights to make and sell in your own shop, with the purchase of a separate contract.

Your little one will thank you!

***This apron, with the lace, was constructed the same as the “Curved and Ruffled” design.  Lace was used on the hem rather then the ruffle, and lace was added to the neckline and under the waist strap.
