A collage of different patriotic decorating ideas

Easy, breezy patriotic outdoor decorations are a must have for the summer holidays. Here in America we have Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day that all look fantastic when decked out in red, white and blue.

If you happen to live in another country that uses different patriotic colors, feel free to adapt today’s ideas to fit your needs.

I just recently got done sharing a darling patriotic tablescape project that was incredibly simple and easy to put together. My hope for today is to show you more quick and easy ways to decorate in your outdoor spaces. After all, outside on the patio or in the yard is where everyone wants to be during warm summer evenings. Let’s make it special!

1: Patriotic Outdoor Flower Pots

Don’t feel like committing your flower beds to a red, white and blue color scheme? Me neither! I’ve found that adding miniature American flags to my flower pots is a simple and easy way to decorate outdoors.

I’ve got them scattered throughout my yard for a super easy patriotic decoration.

By the way – kids love to help place little flags around the yard, so you’ll likely have willing helpers!

2: Decorated Clothes Line

No flag pole? No problem! If you have a clothesline, let me assure you that they are perfect for hanging flags. It looks totally charming while also making a bold statement.

A deck railing is another great spot to hang a flag. And if you don’t have a deck railing or a clothesline? This is your sign to make that clothesline. I promise you’ll love using it!

3: Patriotic Front Yard

I love a good front yard, so you know we can’t leave that out of the holiday fun!

In my yard, I used patriotic pinwheels to line the walkways. It’s simple, inexpensive, takes seconds to put up, and it’s so cheery to look at. Miniature flags would be another great option.

You can dot those pinwheels around or line them up to lead to your guests to the front door or patio.

Bonus Idea: If you have a party with young kids, you can invite them to take a pinwheel home. It will delight the kids and help you with the clean up. This is also a great idea for kid’s birthday parties 😉

4: Patriotic Centerpieces

If you have an outdoor table, try an a patriotic centerpiece as decor. Keep it simple! Everyday items like greenery from your yard, a trimmed tree branch or whatever flowers happen to be in bloom will do.

My latest centerpiece was foraged from the yard and displayed in a ceramic water pitcher. I love the easy simplicity of it. Adding mini flags gives it a pop of patriotic flavor.

5: Red, White & Blue Pillows

A simple way to dress up your porch or patio is with patriotic outdoor pillows or colored door mats.

I used a flag-patterned pillow cover for my front porch bench. My blue and white throw blanket also works well as decor for the patriotic holidays.

7: Star Spangled Serving Tray

Here is one last project for my crafty friends out there. A diy star spangled wood tray.

This adorable serving tray is easy to make and lots of fun to use. It’s usefulness isn’t limited to July either. This baby’s design and color scheme are neutral enough for Christmas or any time of year. In fact, it would make a great Christmas present, don’t you think?
