CREATIVE WAYS TO USE ANTIQUE POTTERY IN YOUR HOME

1 – KITCHEN STORAGE

I use a beautiful dark antique crock to store our rolling pins, which I think adds a whole lot of charm to this little corner. See more of my kitchen here.

I’ve also layered this spot with some sweet smaller vessels to house the essential oils I frequently use in the kitchen, and some small stirring spoons we are always reaching for.

A couple of these smaller pieces I actually made with some girl friends while we were taking a pottery making class. They are so imperfect and they hold such dear memories for me!

I also love to use antique crocks to hold our wooden spoons by our Verona Range where they can be easily reached for and put away. Old wood and antique pottery is such a lovely combo!

2 – SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL MANTEL AND SHELF DECOR

With my abundance of antique pottery pieces, I’ve utilized them by placing them here, there and everywhere as simple decor.

I love the earthy colors, and I think they create such a beautiful decor statement placed on mantels and shelves.

The biggest perk of having them all around the house is that I can grab one easily and at any time to create an arrangement that is one-of-a-kind.

3 – CRAFT AND OFFICE SUPPLIES

My collection of crocks has come in handy in the office/school room too! I use this cute one I picked up at a thrift store for our many brushes.

4 – LAUNDRY ROOM STORAGE

I use crocks and pottery a couple different ways in the laundry room. The lidded crock is so nice to throw in all the dryer lint and garbage I pull out of little boy pockets.

I keep another vessel full of cleaning rags and scrubbers. Who says cleaning supplies can’t look pretty too!

5 – BATHROOM STORAGE

I looked around my bathroom to notice I use pottery to store q-tips, brushes, combs, and to coral all my chapstick and makeup brushes.

6 – PLANT AND FLORAL ARRANGEMENT VESSELS

If you love indoor plants and flower arrangements, there is no better vessel for them than an antique crock or beautiful piece of pottery.

7 – A HANDY CATCH ALL

Finally, you can keep a crock anywhere you might need a catch-all. This has worked great in my daughters room to give her a place to empty her pockets or remove any jewelry.

The mudroom or entry table would also be a great place to place a catch-all crock.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all these ideas! Do you have an antique collection as well? I’d love to hear what you collect and use around your home.

  1. Hi Cami, love what you’re doing! I’ve collected a few old crocks and pottery vases, and I’m wondering if it’s safe to fill them with water for fresh flower displays. Have you experimented with this with good results? My pieces are glazed, but the glaze seems so aged and there are fine cracks it seems…

    1. Yes, I use my old crocks frequently to fill with water and flowers. Some are not suitable, especially if they have big cracks and leak. You’ll know. Thanks so much for reading!
