I’m back to show you a glimpse of what our kitchen looks like for the Fall season.

But you must know that no kitchen with 4 kids ever looks this clean and tidy for more than . . . . ummmm . . . . the time it takes to do a photo shoot.

Yes, I’ll be the first to admit this is not reality.  However, I was feeling so inspired by my love for peaches and Fall time, I just wanted to play around and create some pretty images solely for the joy of it.

And it felt really good.

Our favorite Fall tradition is to make at least 10 Fresh Peach Pies and deliver them to neighbors and friends.

Then we bottle as many peaches as we possible can, because they are so nice to enjoy during the winter season.

As you’ll see, I just played around with the peach color in my kitchen and had fun capturing my favorite aspects of Autumn.

I have done some subtle design changes to this space the last few months, which I’ll share as I go.  But I just have to apologize, this space is the most difficult for me to photograph in my house.  The only natural light is coming off of the living room, so it can be a dark space.  I’ve done my best to lighten it up by using lots of white, but the photography of it is still a challenge.

Just recently I swapped out or IKEA slip-covered bar stools for these thrift store bar stools.

I found them for $8.00 each at the thrift store, and came home and sanded and painted the varnished wood that was haunting them.  I painted the legs with white milk paint, and just left the top sanded and smooth.

While I loved the comfort of the other stools (which you can see here), I was craving something with less maintenance.  Since my youngest is now old enough to climb up one of these less bulky stools, I felt it would be a nice change and would take up less room.  I can now fit 4 stools (one for each child) under the peninsula, and there is no need to wash covers every week.

The best part is that is was a small investment for a fun change.

I also just recently swapped out some of my upper storage containers for more clear containers.  I love the ability to see what is inside each jar and use it for both function and display.

On my other open shelves, I took down my blue and white dishes and played around with a more curated look from collected ivory colored dishes I’ve been finding at thrift stores.

It’s crazy, but sometimes taking out the punches of color can be very soothing to my eyes.

I know there are varying opinions on open shelving, but I will tell every soul that asks me, that I absolutely LOVE my open shelving.  I think it adds so much character to a space, it’s fun to switch out, and I love not having to open and close doors every time I need a dish or am putting a dish away.

I’ve been braving the color orange more in my decor this season, which quite frankly feels a little out of my blue and white character.

But some lovely peach/orange roses from the grocery store were enjoyed placed around our house for days.

I also have been taking advantage of our Russian Olive Tree out back, and clipping branches here and there to fill in vases.

It’s quite easy this time of year to let nature’s bounty take lead in beautifying our home.

  1. Love the blue on the lower cupboard, does it wrap around the the other side? We are painting our cupboards and I am looking for some fresh cottage feel colors.

    1. Thank you! white bottom drawers on the other side, so the blue planks are only on the peninsula. Easy to repaint when I get board of this color 😉 . Best of luck to you!
