Cottage home paint colors

Home renovations here at the Lavender Blue Cottage have been moving right along. So far, I’ve shown you the entryway, pantry, boy’s bedroom, girl’s bedroom and basement living room with more to come. These are exciting times indeed!

All of these updates remind me that there is nothing quite as satisfying as a good room makeover. The process of transforming a space from blah to beautiful is pure magic. It’s part of what turns a house into your home – setting the mood, adding personality, and beautifying a space with things that make you happy.

I love to give you a tour of each space in our cottage home as we reveal it and, without fail, the most common question I am asked is “what’s that paint color?”

Today, I’m sharing all of my cottage paint colors with you and showing you how we incorporated them into each space. Join me, won’t you?

*Please note: almost all colors were color matched at Sherwin Williams by our paint company. They preferred their paint brands, so they color matched them there.

Entryway

First up is the entryway.

This space is small on size, but big on charm. We opted for calming earth tones in soft hues.

The upper walls are White Dove by Benjamin Moore, which is the lovely warm white throughout our home.

The trim work, wall treatment and interior of our front door are Soft Linen by Magnolia, which is a nice oatmeal color. Depending on the time of day, the lighting in our home sometimes gives it a slightly pink color, but I’ve used this color many times in other homes like in our RV and Butler’s Pantry in our pole barn home.

Girl’s Cottage Bedroom

Kids’ rooms are a blast to decorate because you can let their personalities shine.

For my daughter, we went with a sweet floral print wallpaper that says “classic cottage” to me. Dusty pink pops of color add a sweet touch to this bedroom.

The dusty pink color on doors and trim is Dusty Rose by Magnolia.

Boy’s Cottage Bedroom

Here we have another kids’ bedroom, this one my son’s.

We left the walls with their original off-white paint and natural wood trim. It was perfect for the cottage look.

The desk ended up getting a paint job in the most perfect color of sage green. Vintage decor finishes off the look, of course.

Everyone wants to know what color our kitchen trim and cabinets is.

We picked a bolder blue/gray color for the cabinets and trim called Weathered Windmill by Magnolia.

The white color is White Dove by Benjamin Moore.

Pantry

Next, we’ll visit the cottage style pantry, where we showcase shades of dusty gray/blue. Although it’s hard to see in pictures, this room is two-toned, with a lighter blue color on the ceiling and upper cabinets and a slightly darker blue on the trim, casings, and lower wall treatments.

The lighter blue on the upper cabinets is Tornado by PPG.

The darker blue on the trim and wall treatment is Solitary State by PPG.

Basement Family Room

The last stop, for now, is the basement living room. (You must see the before pictures!) This room got some much-needed extra lighting, as well as calming blues, and white paint colors to let the ceiling beams stand out. It’s got a clean, relaxed, cozy feel that my family loves.

Homeschool Room

Let’s add one more entry, shall we? This is the homeschool/office/study/library room. We use it for everything, so the room needed to be both soothing and inviting.

Attic Bedroom

This room is a fun one! It’s a cozy attic-turned-bedroom that we designed for my oldest daughter. So much charm is such a small space!

Yellow Bedroom

For my yellow lovers, here is our sunshine bedroom. It’s light and creamy and all-around fun! Painting just the wall treatment helped us keep the color from overwhelming the small space.
