Our basement living room makeover is coming together, and although not yet finished, I couldn’t resist a little Christmas decorating to get us in the holiday spirit. I added our new King of Christmas tree down here to begin the holiday season.
King of Christmas is an amazing source if you are on the market for artificial Christmas trees or garland. They have an amazing selection and their trees are so lifelike and beautiful. While we love to cut down a real tree from the mountains each year, I reserve the green tree and fresh evergreens for the upstairs living room. It’s better to keep a closer eye on a real tree since they dry out and can become fire hazards.

However, a faux tree from King of Christmas was the perfect option for the basement family room where the kids love to hang out! I can easily pack it away at the end of the season in the included storage bag.
Since the space is pretty much blue and white throughout the room, it called for the perfect opportunity to decorate our tree in blue and white ornaments – which are some of my favorite color combinations during the Christmas season. A white tree or a flocked tree would also make a dreamy base for the blue and white color combo.

Our Christmas Tree Selection
I picked out the 7 Foot King Noble Fir Artificial Christmas Tree with 500 warm white LED lights, and an easy foot pedal to turn them on. Our basement has a low ceiling, which was the main reason we needed a new tree height. The other faux tree I have would not have fit and I was so excited for a cozy little tree to fit this cozy little space in our Lavender Blue Cottage. When I finish up this space completely, I’ll be sure to do a full reveal, but you get a little sneak peak today.

I love the King Noble Fir because it looks a bit sparse like the ones we get from the mountains. This is our favorite style of tree because it is so realistic for our area. At first glance, it definitely has the charm of being fresh cut from our woods.

It was so easy to set the tree up myself and the lights on this tree are dreamy! There are several settings to change the brightness and twinkle.

Blue and White Christmas Tree Decorations
I dug through our Christmas bins and used a lot of our ornaments that are handmade and I’ll link you to tutorials for each that I have on my blog. It all came from a previous tree we have decorated, but I also wanted to round up some beautiful white and blue decorations that you can buy to create a similar look. Ornaments with memories are my favorite way to decorate a tree!

Because our home is very much a country cottage style, I love to just wrap old quilts around the base of the tree for a tree skirt. For a tree topper, I just used some torn chiffon fabric that I tied into a bow.

Blue and White Christmas Tree Ornaments to Buy
It is great to find a shade of blue you want to keep with, or you can mix it up. I have a variety of ornaments and blue ribbon in this lovely french blue color. Since I can’t link the exact ones anymore, you can visit my idea board to find a variety of beautiful blue and white ornaments to shop for, and other holiday decor in this color scheme.

This tree is a beauty! I love the blue! As a quilter, the idea of using a quilt for the tree skirt is awesome!
